Regalia and Jewels of OSM
Here we will showcase some of the Regalia and items relating to the Order of the Secret Monitor. These items are covered in depth during our ceremonies as they play key parts in what we do.
One advantage to OSM is the jewels required for the Order are owned by the Province of Suffolk and provided to you. So, there is no regalia to buy until you reach Provincial rank. It is all given to you to use for free – reducing the costs to all new members.

First Degree Jewel
An Eye-catching Jewel
The jewel typically consists of two interlaced triangles forming a hexagram, often referred to as the Shield of David or Star of David, though its meaning in OSM is very distinct. In the First Degree, the jewel symbolises friendship, loyalty, and mutual support, core tenets of the Order.
The First Degree itself, known as the Degree of Secret Monitor, emphasises themes of brotherhood and the moral responsibilities members have toward one another.
First Degree Sash
Intricate Embroidery
The First Degree Sash is more than ceremonial attire—it’s a reminder of the responsibilities a member accepts upon initiation. It signifies a commitment to watch over fellow members, to offer guidance, and to be a source of strength in times of difficulty, echoing the unwavering loyalty between David and Jonathan.
In essence, the sash is a badge of fraternal duty, constantly reminding the wearer of the principles of care and support that define the First Degree of the Order of the Secret Monitor.
